Why is in news? President to inaugurate 18th National Scout and Guide Jamboree at Rohat in Pali district of Rajasthan today

President Droupadi Murmu will inaugurate the 18th National Scout and Guide Jamboree, at Rohat in the Pali district of Rajasthan on Jan 4.

Rajasthan is hosting Jamboree after 66 years. Over 35,000 scouts and guides from all over the country will participate in this 7-day mega-event.

A smart jamboree village has been set up with all the facilities on a two hundred twenty hectare area at Nimblee village 3500 tents have been erected at the venue.

The attraction of the event will be the display of the Indian Airforce Surya Kiran Aerobatics Team. Besides this, there will also be a demonstration by the BSF Camel Squad. Various competitions and Activities will be organized during the event.

National Jamboree will give a platform to young scouts to share their customs, food habits, handicrafts, and religious practices with each other.

The Bharat Scouts & Guides is a registered Organisation under Societies Registration Act of XXI 1860 with headquarters in New Delhi. State Association is affiliated to the National Association.

It is totally voluntary, non-political and secular Organisation.

Scouting/Guiding is based upon three broad principles which represent its fundamental laws and beliefs. They are referred to as: “Duty to God”, “Duty to others” and “Duty to self”.

Scouting was founded in India in 1909 as an overseas branch of the Scout Association and became a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1938.

Guiding in India started in 1911 and was amongst the founder members of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in 1928, also covering present-day Bangladesh and Pakistan at that time.
