Indian Navy's guided missile destroyer INS Surat successfully test-fired a medium-range surface-to-air missile in the Arabian Sea recently.

About INS Surat

It is the fourth andfinal ship of the Project 15Bstealth guided missile destroyerclass, popularly known as theVisakhapatnam class.

It ranks among the largest and most sophisticated destroyers in the world.

It has75 percent Indigenous contentand is equipped with state-of-the-art weapon-sensor packages and advanced network-centric capabilities.

It wasdesigned by the Navy's Warship Design Bureauandbuilt by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders, Mumbai.

It wascommissionedinto the Indian Navyin January 2025.
