1. International Nurses Day -May 12

International Nurses Day (IND) is celebrated annually on May 12, the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, to honor the contributions nurses make to society. Observed globally

The International Council of Nurses (ICN) has observed this day since 1965, with May 12th officially designated as International Nurses Day in 1974.

2PRESIDENT OF INDIA PRESENTS NATIONAL FLORENCE NIGHTINGALE AWARDS 2026

The President of India presented the National Florence Nightingale Awards for the year 2026 to the nursing personnel, on the occasion of International Nurses Day, at a function held at Rashtrapati Bhavan today (May 12, 2026)

The National Florence Nightingale Awards were instituted in 1973 by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, as a mark of recognition for the meritorious services rendered by nursing personnel to society.

3. Five States Felicitated for exceptional DigiLocker Integration Initiatives

The National e-Governance Division (NeGD) has focused on facilitating the integration of DigiLocker with various State digital service platforms

five States were felicitated for their outstanding contribution towards DigiLocker integration. The felicitation took place during the National Consultative Workshop on Strengthening Cybersecurity Frameworks for State Data, held on May 11, 2026.

During the event, officials and SeMT teams from five States viz. Gujarat, Karnataka, Keralam, Nagaland and Rajasthan were felicitated

DigiLocker is a secure cloud based platform for storage, sharing and verification of documents & certificates.

Indian citizens who sign up for a DigiLocker account get a dedicated cloud storage space that is linked to their Aadhaar (UIDAI) number.

India CPI inflation rose to 3.48 percent in April 2026

Food inflation hit 4.20 percent

Jewellery and some vegetables surged

Housing inflation rate for the month of April, 2026 is 2.15%

Telangana had the highest state inflation at 5.81%
