1. Centre Mandates Passport Declaration for Pakistani, Afghan and Bangladeshi Applicants Seeking Citizenship
The new provision under the Citizenship Rules applies to Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi and Christian applicants from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh seeking Indian citizenship.
the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Monday notified the changes to the Citizenship Rules, 2009 that would require certain applicants to declare possession or surrender of passports issued by Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.
MHA had notified the Citizenship (Amendment) Rules, 2026, introducing electronic Overseas Citizen of India (e-OCI) cards, fully online applications and stricter norms on dual passports for minors.
The Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 (CAA) amended the Citizenship Act, 1955 to provide an accelerated pathway to Indian citizenship for persecuted religious minorities from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Pakistan.
It grants citizenship eligibility to Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis, and Christians who entered India on or before December 31, 2014.

2. (G7) Presidency in 2026, France will host the G7 Summit in Évian, France, in June.
The G7 Summit is an international forum held annually for the leaders of the G7 member States of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK, and the US. Represented jointly by the President of the European Council and the President of the European Commission, the EU participates in all discussions as a guest.
The role of host, known as the G7 presidency, rotates annually among member countries. Canada chaired the G7 in 2025.
3. PrimeMinister's 32nd Global Award
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with Norway’s highest civilian honour, the Grand Cross of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit, during his visit to Oslo.
This historic recognition marked his 32nd global award from a foreign country.
