1A.R. Rahman receives prestigious Golden Plate Award
The Academy Award-winning composer, producer and philanthropist has been presented with the prestigious Golden Plate Award by the American Academy of Achievement at the 56th International Achievement Summit in Washington, D.C..
Rahman received the honour from acclaimed filmmaker Peter Jackson during a ceremony held at the historic Mellon Auditorium, joining an elite list of global achievers recognised for their contributions across diverse fields.
The award places Rahman among a distinguished group of past recipients that includes celebrated figures such as Haruki Murakami, Julie Andrews, Maya Angelou, Francis Ford Coppola, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Michael J. Fox, Samuel L. Jackson and Andre Agassi.
His work has won multiple global accolades, including Academy Awards, Grammy Awards, BAFTAs and Golden Globes
2India’s First Chess Grandmaster V. Anand 6th Recipient of prestigious SJFI gold Medal
The Sports Journalists’ Federation of India (SJFI) instituted the prestigious SJFI Medal in 2019 to honour sportspersons whose contributions have transcended competitive success and signicantly influenced the growth and development of their respective sports over several decades.
Anand, who is serving as the deputy president of chess governing body FIDE, joins an esteemed awardee list that also includes India’s sporting icons,Sunil Gavaskar (cricket), Vijay Amritraj (tennis), Prakash Padukone (badminton), P.T. Usha (athletics) and Milkha Singh – posthumously – (athletics).
The gold medal was presented to the 56-year-old by former India cricket team captain and chief selector K. Srikkanth.
3India launches World’s First Nuclear Process Heat-based Hydrogen Production Facility
Secretary, Department of Atomic Energy, Ajit Kumar Mohanty has inaugurated the world’s first Hydrogen Production Facility based on the Copper-Chlorine (Cu-Cl) Thermochemical Cycle utilizing nuclear process heat generated from the Fast.
Breeder Test Reactor at the Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), Kalpakkam.
The plant utilizes process heat from the Fast Breeder Test Reactor (FBTR) rather than relying on grid electricity, offering a round-the-clock, continuous clean energy source.Technology: Uses the indigenous Cu-Cl water-splitting cycle developed by the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC). This cycle operates at lower temperatures and higher thermodynamic efficiencies than other global thermochemical processes.
4Air Suvidha 2.0
The portal was developed in collaboration with the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW).
The Ministry of Civil Aviation and Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) today launched AIR SUVIDHA 2.0, an upgraded contactless Passenger Health Self-Declaration Portal, to strengthen public health surveillance at Points of Entry in response to the ongoing Ebola disease outbreak.
The current outbreak has been confirmed as Bundibugyo virus disease (BVD), and countries bordering DRC and Uganda — including South Sudan — have been assessed as high-risk for transmission (as updated by WHO).
