1TB Death Reduction Rate in Six Districts in TN
Tamil Nadu Kasanoi Erappila Thittam is India's first State-wide and State-specific differentiated TB care initiative to reduce TB deaths, was launched in April 2022.
Under TN-KET, adults with TB were triaged for severe illness at diagnosis, and those with severe undernutrition or respiratory insufficiency or poor per formance status were prioritised for comprehensive clinical assessment and in-patient care.
data showed a de cline in TB death ratescompared with July 2021-June 2022 cohort across the six districts Dharmapuri (from 12.6% to 4.8%), Karur (from 7% 4.7%), Villupuram (from 6.1% to 4.6%), Kaniyakumari (from 10.4% to 8.1%), Cuddalore (from 6.7% 4.1%), and Salem (from 7.8% to 4.9%).
"Beyond the six districts, the overall impact of TN-KET also reflected across the rest of the State,with a nearly 2.5% reduction in TB deaths after its implementation.

He served as the prime minister of India from July 1979 to January 1980.
He served as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh as a member of Bharatiya Kranti Dal.
He also briefly served as the deputy prime minister of India from January 1979 to July 1979
Singh was principally known for his land and agricultural reform initiatives,"Champion of Farmers"
His efforts in land reforms, such as the UP Zamindari Abolition and Land Reforms Act, 1952, aimed at empowering tillers and providing land ownership to the landless and the introduction of the Minimum Support Price (MSP)
He later founded his own Lok Dal party

Chaudhary Charan Singh is the only Prime Minister in the history of independent India who never faced Parliament during his tenure.
He served as the 5th Prime Minister from July 28, 1979, to January 14, 1980.
His minority coalition government was propped up by the Indian National Congress on the condition that he prove his majority in a floor test. However, just a day before the Lok Sabha session was scheduled to begin, the Congress party withdrew its support.
Knowing he did not have the numbers to win the vote of confidence, Charan Singh resigned without ever attending or facing Parliament.

National Commission for Women submits report on rights of Muslim women in India to ministries
The National Commission for Women has submitted a comprehensive recommendatory report on Rights of Muslim Women in India to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Women and Child Development, and Ministry of Minority Affairs.
The submission follows an extensive national-level consultation aimed at strengthening the legal, social, and constitutional rights of Muslim women in the country.
The Commission observed that while constitutional safeguards and recent legal reforms have contributed significantly towards advancing women’s rights, there is more substantial scope to strengthen legal awareness.
This will help to improve access to justice and bring greater clarity and consistency through progressive codification of personal laws. Particular emphasis was placed on issues relating to marriage, divorce, maintenance, custody, and inheritance
The consultation also examined key legislations governing Muslim women’s rights, including,
The Muslim Personal Law (Shariat) Application Act, 1937,
The Dissolution of Muslim Marriages Act, 1939,
The Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Divorce) Act, 1986
The Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act, 2019.
4. Union Health Ministry Releases National Family Health Survey – 6
The NFHS-6 was conducted during 2023-24 by MoHFW with the International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS), Mumbai as the nodal agency.
Covering nearly 6.79 lakh households across 715 districts, the survey provides vital evidence on population, health, nutrition and family welfare indicators and supports evidence-based planning and programme implementation up to the district level.
Safe Motherhood, Institutional Deliveries, Improved Maternal and Child Healthcare
95.9% of pregnant women received antenatal care (ANC)
Institutional deliveries increased from 88.6% to 90.6%, moving India closer towards universal coverage
Births attended by skilled health personnel improved from 89.4% to 91.3%
Mothers consuming iron folic acid supplements for 100 days or more during pregnancy increased from 44.1% to 54.9%,
These gains reflect strengthened public health infrastructure and improved access to maternal and child healthcare services driven by focused implementation of initiatives such as Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY), Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (JSSK), Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA/e-PMSMA), Surakshit Matritva Aashwasan (SUMAN), Facility Based New-born Care, Home-Based Newborn Care, and Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY 2.0).
Family Planning Improvements
India’s Total Fertility Rate (TFR) remains at 2.0. The Contraceptive Prevalence Rate (CPR) increased from 66.7% to 69.1%
Achieved by national family planning programmes, including Mission Parivar Vikas.
Child Nutrition
Stunting (low height for age) among children under five years declined substantially from 35.5% to 29.3%
Severe wasting (too thin for one’s height) declined sharply from 7.7% to 5.2
These gains are driven by convergent efforts across Ministries through flagship initiatives such as POSHAN Abhiyaan and Saksham Anganwadi and POSHAN 2.0, supported by strengthened service delivery under ICDS.
Complementary interventions under the National Health Mission (NHM), including maternal and child health services, Nutrition Rehabilitation Centres (NRCs), Mother’s Absolute Affection (MAA), Infant and Young Child Feeding, Iron and folic acid supplementation

Health insurance/financing scheme coverage has expanded significantly from 41.0% to 60.2%

supported by initiatives such as the Menstrual Hygiene Scheme (MHS) within the Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK) and the affordable sanitary products under the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana
