1Singapenne Thittam

The Singapenne Thittam (Singappen Special Task Force) is a flagship women's safety initiative launched by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay.

Operating with a "zero-tolerance" policy against crimes targeting women and children, the project is backed by a ₹354 crore budget allocation.

Official Launch: Chief Minister Vijay officially inaugurated the special elite force at the ⁠Rajarathinam Stadium in Egmore, Chennai.

Operational Scope: The force is directly supervised by the Chief Minister. It handles domestic violence cases, enforces strict drug-control measures (which are linked to street crimes), and ensures immediate action on complaints.

Modern Equipment: India's first state-level drone surveillance system dedicated to women's patrolling has been integrated into the force, alongside a fleet of 30 specialized patrol vehicles.

Infrastructure: To reduce the strain on the existing All Women Police Stations, 2,500 new personnel are being recruited.

2Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyaan Completes 10 Years: A Decade of Safer Motherhood in India

The Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyaan completed 10 years on June 9, 2026, marking a decade of improving maternal healthcare in India.

Launched in 2016, the scheme provides free antenatal care to pregnant women on the 9th of every month at government health facilities.

Over 7.5 crore women have benefited from services such as health check-ups, diagnostic tests, counselling, and high-risk pregnancy screening.

The programme has contributed to better maternal health outcomes, with India’s Maternal Mortality Ratio declining from 130 (2014–16) to 87 (2022–24), supporting safer pregnancies and childbirth across the country.

On the 9th day of every month, all designated government health facilities conduct special PMSMA sessions, ensuring predictable and universal access to antenatal care for pregnant women.

Single-Window Minimum Care Package:Pregnant women receive a complete package of free services, including clinical check-ups, counseling, medicines, laboratory tests, and one ultrasound scan, under a single visit.

3India's 8th Regional Meteorological Centre launched at Lucknow.

India's Weather Forecasting Infrastructure has expanded unprecedentedly over the last one decade, enabling more accurate, location-specific and impact-based weather forecasting services across the country.

India had only 17 Doppler Weather Radars in 2014, while several states, including Jammu & Kashmir and Uttarakhand did not have even a single radar. It has now expanded to 50 Doppler Weather Radars and another 50 radars are proposed under 'Mission Mausam' launched by PM Narendra Modi, taking the total to nearly 100 radars over the next two years.

India's Seventh Regional Meteorological Centre in Jammu

As for Uttar Pradesh, while the State had only one Doppler Weather Radar in 2014, now three are operational and several more are being commissioned. The State'sAutomatic Weather Stations increased from 59 to 107, Automatic Rain Gauges Stations from 132 to 140, and Lightening Sensors from 0 to 7.

Local authorities, disaster management agencies and citizens are urged to make full use of weather forecasts and take early warnings seriously.

4Kerala government launched HAWK, NZP Saathi App (a digital zoo guide)

HAWK (Hostile Activity Watch Kernel)Launched by the Kerala Forest Department,

HAWK is India's first digital, judiciary-integrated wildlife offence management system.

Purpose: It tracks wildlife crime cases, offender information, and wildlife mortality.

Key Feature: It is directly integrated with the District Court Management System via API, which eliminates physical paperwork and streamlines the prosecution of environmental crimes

The NZP Saathi App was launched by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change at the National Zoological Park in New Delhi.

Purpose: It functions as a smart, GPS-assisted digital companion to enhance visitor experience and navigation.

Key Features: It includes interactive digital maps to locate animal enclosures and facilities, real-time AI guidance, and curated thematic tours like the Express Tour, Family Tour, and Grand Zoo Tour.
