In November 2025, theBorder Security Force(BSF)has commissioned its first all-women drone operations unit named‘Durga Drone Squadron’, at the School of Drone Warfare(SDW)in the BSF Academy in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh(MP).
- Named after goddessDurga,the unit embodies the power, precision, and resilience of BSF’s women personnel.
About Durga Drone Squadron:
Aim:The initiative aims to integrate women personnel into drone-based surveillance and reconnaissance roles along India’s western and eastern borders.
Led by:The specialized training programme is being conducted under the leadership of Daljit Singh Chaudhary, Director General(DG) of BSF and guided by Dr. Shamsher Singh,Additional DG and Director of the BSF Academy.
Training:The Durga Drone Squadron is receiving specialized training in advanced drone operations, encompassing surveillance, intelligence gathering, reconnaissance, and counter-drone techniques
