Centre Introduces Standard Pack Sizes for Edible Oils to Ensure Uniformity and Transparency

The Department of Consumer Affairs, under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, has introduced standard pack sizes for edible oils and fats under the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011. The initiative aims to promote uniformity, transparency, and ease of price comparison for consumers while preventing misleading packaging practices in the edible oil market.

Standardized pack sizes will make it easier for consumers to compare prices across brands.
