View May 2026 Crrent Affairs

The Indian Army and the Indian Navy signed a Memorandum of Association (MoA) to strengthen inter-service cooperation and promote greater jointness among the Armed Forces. The agreement aims to institutionalise coordination between the two services and enhance integrated operational capabilities in future warfare scenarios.

The MoA seeks to:

Institutionalise inter-service cooperation

Enhance operational cohesion and interoperability

Promote structured professional exchanges

Strengthen understanding of each service’s operational ethos

Foster enduring camaraderie between Army formations and Naval establishments

Lay down broad guidelines for future Army-Navy affiliations

Importance of Greater Jointness

The agreement reflects India’s ongoing efforts toward integrated and multi-domain warfare preparedness. Modern warfare increasingly requires seamless coordination among the Army, Navy, and Air Force across land, maritime, air, cyber, and space domains.

The relevance of such integration was highlighted during “Operation Sindoor”, where coordinated action among the three services reportedly contributed to operational success.
