Intach Launches Project ‘gaja Lok’ To Honor Asian Elephants’ Bond With Humans

In November 2025, the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage(INTACH),under the Ministry of Culture, launched“Project Gaja-Lok: Elephant Lands and their Cultural Symbolism in Asia”,aimed at documenting and celebrating the deep cultural, historical, and ecological relationship between Asian elephants and human societies in India.

About Project Gaja Lok:

Events:Project Gaja‑Lok officially commenced with a public exhibition held from 19 to 25 November 2025, and a roundtable was conducted on 20 November 2025 at INTACH in New Delhi, Delhi.

Organizer:The events, organized by the Intangible Cultural Heritage(ICH) Division of INTACH, brought together experts, academicians, and conservationists.

Focus:The exhibition showcases the journey with artifacts, including Indus Valley seals, Bharhut railings, and Konark Temple statues.

The Gaja-Lok Roundtable focused on topics such as human-elephant interactions, ecological challenges, ethical coexistence, and cross-border heritage collaboration
