Why is in news? Paradip Port signs off 2022 by posting record monthly cargo volume in the month of December

The New Year 2023 began at Paradip Port with a bang as Team Paradip Port Authority signed off 2022 by clocking highest ever monthly cargo throughput in the history of all Major Ports in the country, with all time record cargo handling of 12.6 MMT in December, 2022.

Paradip Port is a natural, deep-water port on the East coast of India in Paradip, just 53 km from Jagatsinghpur city in Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha, India.

It is at the confluence of the Mahanadi river and the Bay of Bengal, south of Kolkata and north of Visakhapatnam.

The port is administered by the Paradip Port Authority (PPA) (formerly Paradip Port Trust), an autonomous corporation wholly owned by the Government of India.
