1e-Jagriti Wins Silver Award at National Awards for e-Governance 2026

The Department of Consumer Affairs' e-Jagriti platform has been awarded the Silver Award under Category I

Use of Technology for Digital Transformation at the prestigious National Awards for e-Governance (NAeG) 2026, presented by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances.

Launched on 1 January 2025, e-Jagriti has unified four legacy applications OCMS, e-Daakhil, NCDRC CMS and CONFONET into a single AI-enabled, paperless platform. Since its launch, the platform has facilitated filing of over 2.29 lakh consumer cases and disposal of over 2.07 lakh cases, achieving an overall disposal rate of 90.75 per cent while enabling consumers to access justice seamlessly from anywhere in India and abroad.

Faster and Easier Access to Justice

Consumers can now file complaints online from anywhere in India or abroad, track case progress in real time and participate in virtual hearings without travelling to consumer commissions.

2Praggnanandhaa Becomes First Indian to Win Norway Chess 2026 Title

India’s young chess star R Praggnanandhaa created history by becoming the first Indian to win the prestigious Norway Chess 2026 title.

The 20-year-old grandmaster secured the championship with 18 points after defeating Vincent Keymer in the final round.

Despite a slow start, Praggnanandhaa staged a remarkable comeback, winning four consecutive games and notably defeating former world champion Magnus Carlsen twice during the tournament.

He finished ahead of Wesley So (17 points), marking a major milestone for Indian chess and adding another prestigious achievement to his rapidly growing career.

Arjuna Award (2022): Conferred by the Government of India for his outstanding performance in chess.

₹50 Lakh Cash Award (June 2026): Presented by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on behalf of SDAT for becoming the first Indian to win the historic Norway Chess tournament

3Prime Minister chairs meeting of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister

Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM) is an independent body constituted to give advice on economic and related issues to the Government of India, specifically to the Prime Minister.

At present, there are a Chairman, 3 Full-Time Members and 11 Part-Time Members in the EAC-PM.

The role of EAC-PM is advisory in nature and not binding on the Government.

For administrative, logistic, planning, and budgeting purposes, the NITI Aayog serves as the nodal agency for the EAC-PM
