China Launches Shenzhou-23 Crewed Space Mission

China successfully launched the Shenzhou-23 crewed spacecraft carrying three astronauts to the Tiangong Space Station as part of its ambitious plan to land humans on the Moon by 2030. The mission was launched using a Long March-2F rocket from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China.

About Tiangong Space Station:

Tiangong means “Heavenly Palace.”

It is China’s permanently operated modular space station in Low Earth Orbit (LEO).

Core module name: Tianhe.

China started building Tiangong in 2021 after being excluded from the International Space Station (ISS) programme.

China aims to establish a permanent lunar research base by 2035 in cooperation with Russia.
