News Context: The CBIC inaugurated the integration of the Land Port Management System (LPMS) with the ICEGATE portal at the Agartala Integrated Check Post (ICP).
- What is ICEGATE? The Indian Customs Electronic Gateway, the national portal for filing customs documents electronically.
- Why Agartala? It is India’s second-largest land port (after Petrapole) for trade with Bangladesh. This integration enables "real-time, bidirectional exchange of data."
- Impact: It reduces manual paperwork, automates "Let Export Orders" (LEO), and speeds up cargo clearance.
- Strategic Link: This is part of India’s "Act East Policy" and the BBIN (Bangladesh-Bhutan-India-Nepal) Connectivity initiative, making border trade as efficient as sea or air trade.
