Economic and Investment Focus

They discussed ways to strengthen economic ties and increase investments between India and Norway.

Talks included boosting investments in green and blue tech sectors — such as clean energy, sustainable maritime technologies and environmental solutions.

Deepening economic cooperation is expected after implementation of the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA), which Norway is part of.

Background on India-EFTA TEPA

The India-EFTA TEPA is a trade and economic partnership between India and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) members: Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.

It came into force on 1 October 2025 and aims to boost trade, investment and technology flows between India and the EFTA bloc.

Under the agreement, EFTA countries plan to invest up to USD 100 billion in India over the next 15 years and create around 1 million jobs in India.
