India and Japan reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation for a free, open, and prosperous Indo-Pacific region during the visit of Japanese Foreign Minister ToshimitsMotegi to New Delhi.
The discussions focused on deepening the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership and enhancing collaboration in areas such as maritime security, infrastructure, connectivity, technology, supply chains, and regional stability.
The meeting took place alongside the Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting held in New Delhi.

The discussions emphasized strengthening maritime cooperation, resilient supply chains, digital partnerships, infrastructure development, and regional connectivity.
The leaders also discussed cooperation in emerging sectors such as critical minerals, clean energy, advanced technology, semiconductors, and economic security. Importance of India-Japan Relations
India and Japan share a Special Strategic and Global Partnership based on democratic values, mutual trust, and regional cooperation. Japan is one of India’s major development partners and investors. The partnership is strategically important because both countries support a stable Indo-Pacific region, secure sea lanes, and diversified global supply chains.
Japan has supported several major infrastructure projects in India, including the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (Bullet Train) Project and the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC).
