The Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) is an autonomous body functioning under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.
Established: 14th May 1966
Headquarters: Mumbai (also houses principal laboratories).

Objectives:
To promote exports through innovative packaging design and development.
To upgrade the overall standards of packaging within the country.
Key Functions:
Testing & evaluation of packaging materials and packages.
Consultancy and R&D in packaging science and technology.
Training and education in packaging for artisans, weavers, exporters, and stakeholders.
Conducts skill development programmes on innovative and aesthetic packaging.
Collaborations:
Works closely with commodity boards and export promotion councils, Including APEDA, Spices Board, MPEDA, Tea Board, and MoFPI.
