On November 3, 2025,OpenAI, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) company, launched“IndQA(Indian Question Answering)”,an AI benchmark to evaluate how effectively AI models understand and reason about Indian culture and daily life in Indian languages.

Languages:IndQA covers12languages,including Bengali, Hindi, Hinglish (a mix of hindi and English), Kannada, Marathi, Odia, Telugu, Gujarati, Malayalam, Punjab, Tamil, and English in the dataset.
Domains:Tencultural domains such as Architecture and Design, Arts & Culture, Everyday Life, Food & Cuisine, History, Law & Ethics, Literature & Linguistics, Media & Entertainment, Religion & Spirituality, and Sports & Recreation.
Dataset:Developed with input from 261 experts, IndQA features 2,278 native questionsin Indian languages, each with an English translation, grading rubric, and expert-approved ideal answer.
