- Uniqueness: It was specifically created to protect the Blackbuck in South India.

- Conservation Status: IUCN - Least Concern; Wildlife Protection Act 1972 - Schedule I (highest protection).
- State Animal: Punjab, Haryana, and Andhra Pradesh.
